All new recruits, regardless of previous experience, attend our Edexcel and Maybo* licensed training centre. Recruits firstly receive certified training required for licensing, and then undergo our additional two day Olympian Training Course. Recruits who already hold relevant certificates for the SIA training are still required to undergo the further two day Olympian training course.
All training is certified and delivered by qualified tutors with operational experience.
The additional Olympian training course is designed to prepare staff in much more detail for their specific assignments. Divided into theory on day 1 and practical lessons on day 2, further subjects are covered including:
- Customer Facing/Interaction Skills
- Loss Prevention
- Requirements For Making An Arrest
- Suspect Detention Procedures
- Notebooks, Statements & Evidence
- Staff Search Procedures
- Radio Procedures
- Electronic Alarm Barriers (EAS)
- Improvised Devices & Terrorist Awareness
- Conflict Resolution & De-escalation
- Maybo Approved Physical Control & Restraint
- Maybo Approved Self Defence and Disengagement Skills
- Emergency Response Protocols
On day 2, recruits firstly take part in a physical fitness assessment which involves completion of a mile run. Next, practical lessons are given in conflict resolution and methods to try and de-escalate acts of aggression. This is followed by lessons in Maybo approved physical control and restraint and disengagement (defensive) techniques. Everyone takes part until they show confidence in applying the techniques shown. In order to provide a true feel for the types of situations that could be encountered on the front line, recruits also take part in realistic role play scenarios, giving invaluable insight and guidance.
Recruits are assessed throughout the induction course and only those who satisfy our high standards are offered employment.
